GAIN Performance Record - Documents

Differences
  • Google Docs has a good selection of fonts, however, Times New Roman not included which could cause problem for those whose work or school require papers to be typed in that font
  • Google Docs has no Word Art, or variations thereof, available
  • Google Docs is easier to share with and edit alongside a group of people than Microsoft Word documents
  • Google Docs is easier to access from other computers than Microsoft Word, as there is no third party (email, flash drive, etc.) needed to access the file, it is available wherever you have internet access
  • Google Docs has a limitation of 15 GB versus whatever your PC may be able to store
  • Google Docs gives you the option to translate document into another language

Similarities

  • Nearly every other tool and function (apart from those mentioned previously) seem to be mirrored from Microsoft Word and made available in Google Docs, this includes but is not limited to: font options and appearances, spacing, printing, copying and pasting, tools, and tables

Overall, it seems that Google Docs is easier to use than Microsoft Word especially if you are going to be working on the document on more than one computer or with more than one person making edits to the document.

  1. Actually, Google Drive documents do not count against the 15 GB - that is only for files saved in other formats.

    Good job!
